The Star - Stamping its DNA on Genting Highlands
PROPERTY developer Tropicana Corporation Bhd's vision to bring its unique DNA to Genting Highlands is one step closer to reality.
It has inked a partnership with Powerchina International Group Limited to kickstart the development of Tropicana Paradise there.
A memorandum of agreement was inked between Tropicana Inspirasi Indah Sdn Bhd and Tropicana Inspirasi Impian Sdn Bhd, which are wholly owned subsidiaries of Tropicana, and Powerchina International Group Limited together with Sinohydro Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of PowerChina.
This agreement marked the start of a bullish year for Tropicana.
Tropicana WindCity is a 241ha mega master-planned township project starring the 124ha Tropicana Paradise as the main catalyst of change.
The highlight of Tropicana Paradise is an integrated entertainment hub that offers l.Smil sq ft of entertainment choices and lmil sq ft of retail options across 15ha.
Offering liveable spaces and accommodation options, Tropicana Paradise is conceptualised to include modern serviced apartments, branded residences as well as four and five-star international brand hotels.
Tropicana WindCity is also Tropicana's first township in Genting Highlands, one of South-East Asia's most popular tourist spots.
This world-renowned destination sited just 45 minutes from Kuala Lumpur welcomes more than 40 million visitors annualTropicana group chief executive officer Lee Han Ming said the partnership with PowerChina signalled a united commitment towards building a sustainable future.
"I want to thank PowerChina for their trust in Tropicana. It is a global powerhouse and a Fortune 500 company with a strong presence in the construction and engineering industry," said Lee.
PowerChina executive vice-president Zhou Jiayi said they were proud to partner with Tropicana and believed the vibrant Tropicana WindCity master development would attract a lot of interest from both Malaysian and foreign investors.
Tropicana and PowerChina are also committed to a greener future. Tropicana Paradise will introduce sustainable infrastructure including comprehensive cable car and electric tram systems along with elevated pedestrian walkways that are disabled-friendly. There will also be bicycle and wheel tracks (for scooters and skateboards) in the plans.
Nature is preserved in the township with the natural landscape of mature trees being used as jungle trekking and outdoor adventure venues.
There is also a strong emphasis on sustainable energy such as solar energy. The development is in line with both companies' strong green initiatives to fortify environmental, social and governance efforts.
Tropicana is confident that Tropicana Paradise, with excellent response from investors, strong brand presence and one-of-a-kind catalytic offerings, will be the epicentre of entertainment at Tropicana WindCity, Genting Highands.
