Kwong Wah Yit Poh - Tropicana Corporation appointed new Managing Director
Kuala Lumpur, 9 October 2017 – Tropicana corp. Bhd. (TROP, 5401, main market, property) has appointed Dion Tan Yong Chien as Group Managing Director effective 2 October 2017.
In filings with Bursa Malaysia, the property developer said Dion Tan, 27, is the third son of Tan Sri Danny Tan Chee Sing, the founder and major shareholder of Tropicana.
His eldest brother, Datuk Dickson Tan Yong Loong is the company’s Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (DGCEO) while another brother, Dillon Tan Yong Chin, is an Executive Director.
Dion Tan was with Accenture, a global management and technology-consulting firm, as a strategy consultant with experience in telecommunications, media and property sectors.
Tropicana also announced that current Director and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Datuk Yau Kok Seng, 58, will retire early effective 30 November 2017 due to health reasons.
Prior to joining Tropicana (then Dijaya Corp) in September 2013 as Director and CEO, Datuk Yau had been Managing Director of Sunway Holdings Bhd from 2001 to 2011 and Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Industries Bhd (HLIND, 3301, main market, consumer goods) from 2011 to 2012.
Besides, Datuk Lim Thean Shiang, 46, who was appointed Tropicana’s Non-Executive Director. The former Port Klang Authority General Manager is one of the advisors to the investment committee of Felda Global Venture Holdings Bhd (FGV, 5222, plantation group).
