Tropicana Foundation, the charity arm of Tropicana, gave back to the Johor community through fitness, family and festivity. This included a RM500,000 sponsorship for the Johor Rugby Union towards furthering the development of sports activities, as well as a donation drive benefiting civil workers, homes in need and charitable organisations such as Yayasan Sultan Ibrahim and Rumah Anak Yatim Syafar across Tropicana’s southern developments (“Tropicana Southern”).
Karen Lee, Tropicana’s Managing Director of Southern, shared more on the developer’s charitable efforts.
“As a township developer, Tropicana believes in building a wholesome community as well as giving back to the people. This year, we want to continue to give back to the Johor community, taking part in a charitable sponsorship and donation drive centred around fitness, family and festivity. This included support for the Johor Rugby Union, in appreciation of its role in bringing people together in the spirit of sportsmanship. We also channelled aid to families in need as well as civil workers, distributing care packs and festive bubur lambuk packets to hospital workers, fire & rescue personnel, and police staff. We did this by working with partners such as Majlis Perbandaran Pontian and Yayasan Sultan Ibrahim Johor, as well as our subsidiaries in the Johor region, in line with our aim to constantly engage with the community and our core goal of Redefining the Art of Caring in all we do,” she said.
The Group’s donation to the Johor Rugby Union supports its emphasis on healthy lifestyles, embodied in its Tropicana go-go-FIT campaign ongoing until end-2022. This campaign emphasises physical and virtual fitness activities across the Group’s townships and developments.
Five Tropicana developments, namely Tropicana Uplands, Tropicana Sanctuary, Tropicana Alma, Tropicana Industrial Park and Lido Waterfront Boulevard donated RM100,000 each towards the Union’s annual programme and the preparation of athletes for tournaments at the national level.
Tropicana’s charitable efforts also included a festive Bubur Lambuk Giveaway, which saw Tropicana staff producing 500 packs of the savoury treat, as well as a donation drive campaign in partnership with Majlis Perbandaran Pontian. In total, 100 care packs were distributed, including essentials goods and necessities, along with 200 packs of clothing.
Recipients included Yayasan Sultan Ibrahim; Majlis Perbandaran Pontian; Rumah Anak Yatim Syafar, Johor Bahru; Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru; Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat, Iskandar Puteri; Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah Iskandar Puteri; and Balai Polis Gelang Petah, as well as homes in need within the Tropicana Danga Cove community.
Tropicana is committed to making a difference through its sustainable business practices and approach to corporate responsibility from the environmental, social and corporate governance (“ESG”) perspective.
