Tropicana Uplifts Langkawi Community With RM2.5mil R&R Centre
Tropicana hosted a
groundbreaking ceremony for the new RM2.5 million Pantai Kok Rest and
Recreation (“R&R”) centre at Langkawi, a joint collaboration with the
Langkawi state government. Officiated by YB Dato’ Haji Juhari bin Bulat, State
Assemblyman of Air Hangat and Speaker to the Kedah State Assembly, as well as
representatives from Majlis Perbandaran Langkawi Bandaraya Pelancongan, this initiative
will see the renovation and upgrade of the centre’s existing facilities to
better serve the Langkawi community.
The Pantai Kok R&R Centre
sits on a 0.49-acre parcel of land belonging to the state of Langkawi. The
renovation works include the expansion of the centre’s existing facilities from
five to eight commercial lots. The refurbished building will include an
enhanced washroom, surau, and carpark amenities, with more than 70 parking bays
for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles.
The Tropicana Foundation
spearheads Tropicana’s approach to social dimensions, in line with its emphasis
on environmental, social, and governance (“ESG”) principles. Launched in 2011,
the Foundation encompasses outreach programmes to underprivileged segments of
society, including the food bank, health, education, and recycling initiatives,
as well as employee engagement.
It
also addresses environmental issues and social impacts with flood relief
efforts, tree planting programmes, and more. Since its inception, Tropicana
Foundation has donated more than RM23 million to various charitable causes.
