New Straits Times - Tropicana Brings Joy to Over 600 Families
Tropicana Foundation, a charity arm of Tropicana Corporation Berhad teamed up with charity hero Kuan Chee Hengr better known as Uncle Kentang, to give a pleasant surprise to the underprivileged recently.
Some 628 families in the Klang Valley received silver catfish (ikan patin) each from Tropicana. Together with its award-winning resort development and agriculture arm: Tropicana Golf & Country Resort (TCCR) and Greenhouse Farm & Fishery, the Tropicana team worked together to clean, wrap, and pack the fishes to retain freshness and flavor.
Foo Ken Nee, Executive Director of Tropicana, conveyed his appreciation to the Tropicana team for staying true to the group's mission of serving the community and thanked Kuan for co-hosting this donation event.
"It is our long-standing commitment to support and alleviate the life of our community. We are very happy to co-host this charity TROPICANA BRINGS JOY TO OVER 600 FAMILIES initiative with Uncle Kentang as this donation will go towards helping 628 families across Klang Valley. Fish is an important source of protein, omega-3 fatty acids and iron. Tropicana Foundation is committed to helping Malaysia build healthy, vibrant communities" he said.

Fish is among the healthiest foods on the planet. It's loaded with important nutrients, such as protein and vitamin D. Fish is also a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are incredibly important for one's body and brain.
Uncle Kentang, who got his nickname by donating potatoes to the poor, was bestowed the Commonwealth Points of Light Award by Queen Elizabeth II for his outstanding volunteer work in June 2021. The 57-year-old philanthropist is only the fourth Malaysian to have received the award. Kuan is also known as the 10sen man for providing ambulance services, taxis and selling items for l0sen, essentially for free, to the poor and needy. He also runs a food bank, a community policing team, helps arrange shelters for survivors of domestic abuse, and operates a hotline for people thinking about suicide.
