National Day and in line with the theme Malaysia Prihatin (Malaysia Cares), a foundation extended its support to four associations in need of aid across Selangor, Johor, and Pahang.

Tropicana Foundation, the charity arm of Tropicana Corporation Bhd. kicked off its first project by providing for the needs of the children at Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras in Sungai Buloh. Selangor.

The corporation's group managing director Dion Tan stressed that now more than ever, it was important to reach out to underprivileged communities.

To lighten the burden of caretakers as well as provide nutritious meals for the children, the foundation donated 220kg of fresh patin fish as well as 62kg of fresh vegetables.

Together with its agriculture arm, Purple Pumpkie and Greenhouse, the team organized and packed the fresh produce, which included tomato, kangkung, spinach, sweet potato leaves, brinjal, long beans, mustard greens, and Japanese cucumber, that was sufficient to feed residents of the home for about three weeks.

The team with fresh produce donated to Rumah Kasih Harmoni in Sungai Buloh In Johor. the foundation's southern team contributed a total of 300 bags of sundries to Village Development and Security Committee at Kempas and Pusat Latihan Pemimpin Muda at Rengit.

Many were affected by the pandemic and these essentials were distributed to the underprivileged residents and seniors within the community to help them during these trying times.

It also contributed 7,100 units of personal protective equipment to the Pahang government, which will be used by the frontliners of Dewan Jubli Perak Sultan Ahmad Shah, a vaccination centre in Kuantan.

To help protect frontliners and flatten the Covid-19 curve, the "This is a good time for us to reach out and support in whatever way we can." Dion Tan foundation also donated a range of items such as masks, face shields, disposable gloves, coveralls, gowns, aprons, shoe covers and head covers.

'The current restrictions on public movement are challenging for many, especially the underprivileged communities.

'This is a good time for us to reach out and support in whatever way we can.

"With our donations, we hope to keep everyone safe and healthy during this period," said Tan.
