The Star - Four Institutions Get RM 690,000 in Aid
Tropicana Foundation, the charity arm of Tropicana Corporation Bhd (Tropicana), made contributions worth RM690,000 in total to four institutions in Johor.
The contributions were made to help the state combat and flatten the Covid-19 curve.
Out of the total sum, RM300,000 was presented to Yayasan Sultan Ibrahim Johor (YSIJ), RM300,000 to Johor's disaster relief fund (Tabung Bencana Negeri Johor), RM10,000 to Pontian Municipal Council, and purchase of six electrocardiogram machines worth RM80,000 for Johor Health Department.
Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar expressed his appreciation to Tropicana Foundation for its contributions to YSIJ, saying: "YSIJ continuously helps the people with the delivery of food aid every week, as well as various other assistance and contributions." Tropicana group chief executive officer Lee Han Ming thanked Sultan Ibrahim and the Johor government for their ongoing initiatives in combating the pandemic, which, he said, had not only helped alleviate the problems of the Johor community but also re-energise the country's wellness and economic sectors.
"We hope with our contributions, the medical machines will provide more aid to hospitals and the community.
"Now more than ever, all of us should stand united to fight this pandemic and return to normal life soon," said Lee.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad extended his appreciation to Tropicana Foundation.
"I hope these donations can help Johor Health Department.
"Hopefully more companies will emulate Tropicana's efforts to fight Covid-19," he added.
Also present at the mock cheque presentation were Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Baru Emergency & Trauma department head Dr Mohd Amin, hospital director Dr Mohtar Ahmad, hospital deputy director (medical) Dr Sharath Chandran, Johor deputy state secretary (management) Datuk Mohd Noh Ibrahim, Johor Health Department director Datuk Dr Aman Rabu and Tropicana managing director (southern region) Karen Lee.
Over the years, Tropicana has played an important role in shaping the vibrant landscape of Johor.
The developer enjoys a strong presence in the southern region with its two master-planned townships, Tropicana Danga Bay and Danga Cove.
Moving forward, Tropicana plans to unlock more landbanks in Johor in its aim to create harmonious, safe townships for the community to live, work, learn, play and prosper in.
In the third quarter of this year, Tropicana will roll out its first industrial park, Tropicana Industrial Park (TIP).
TIP is positioned as a master-planned industrial park in Johor, a nod to the increasing number of small- and middle-sized enterprises in Malaysia, especially within the Pekan Nanas vicinity that is a 30-minute drive to Singapore's second link.
Tropicana also plans to roll out Tropicana Uplands, a vibrant mixed development in Gelang Patah and Lido Waterfront Boulevard, an iconic integrated waterfront development overlooking the Straits of Johor.
With these developments in the pipeline, Tropicana is confident that the strategic location of Johor at the southern-most tip of peninsular Malaysia will continue to gain traction as the commercial import and export hub in Malaysia.
