The Star - New link helps save time on the the road

New link helps save time on the the road

The 1.6km purpose-built link also serves residents of Subang Jaya, USJ and neighbouring areas where they can enjoy a shortened 2.5km distance and a reduction in travel time on their daily commute.

US] Heights resident Dennis Tan said he tried out the new flyover on the way to Shah Alam and found it much easier to commute.

"Instead of coming out of USJ Heights and driving into Subang Jaya to get to the Federal Highway my exit is now very much nearer.

"Before the link, it would take me about 15 to 20 minutes on a good day but close to 40 minutes to get out of the area and head to Shah Alam if traffic is heavy," he said.

However, with every new alternative route, he said it would only be a matter of time before it was clogged with cars but he was glad to have a more convenient way to move about.
Kelvin Tan, who also lives in USJ Heights, said the new route was good.

He uses the route now to get to his office in Kuala Lumpur.

"It cuts down my travel time to the Federal Highway from USJ Heights by at least 10 to 15 minutes," he said.

USJ 3/4 RT chairman Tan Yeng Yap said before the link was open, he had to take a longer route, passing Hicom Glenmarie where there were a lot of stops, before reaching his destination in Shah Alam.

Now, his commute in and out of the area is much easier with less hassle.

He said there would be smooth journeys up until more people started using the new link but said it was not about how many roads were built but the number of vehicles on the road.
"It is not fair to developers and authorities for people to complain about routes and traffic when there are too many people commuting in single-occupancy vehicles.

"It would help if there was proper road planning with good bus services," he said, adding that using navigation apps would also help people avoid heavy traffic.
