The Star - Japanese Specialty Store Comes to Mall
TROPICANA Gardens Mall, the retail arm of Tropicana Corporation Bhd. is ending the year on a high note with new store openings and exciting programmes.
The wait is over for avid fans of Jonetz by Don Don Donki as the popular Japanese specialty store is now open at the mall in Tropicana Indah in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Spanning 42,243sq ft across levels CC and G, the store is the first in Selangor, the second nationwide and the largest in South-East Asia.
Shoppers can expect a wide variety of quality Japanese products such as snacks, food, groceries and household products in addition to its house brand Jonetsu Kakaku.
There are also new sections, such as the Yatai street food stalls, CosmeDONKl cosmetic corner and the halal section.
"Jonetz means 'passionate* in Japanese and it is related to how the products are carefully selected to ensure that customers experience authentic Japanese products that are of high quality and only found in Japan.
"Don Don Donki is a Japanese store concept which we operate mainly in the Asia-Pacific region.
"This is our second store in mall Cinema and sports superstore also open their doors Malaysia and the largest Don Don Donki store in Asia-Pacific.
"We hope our customers will enjoy our Japanese specialty - from snacks, groceries and a variety of halal-certified Wagyu beef platters to ready-to-eat meals and traditional sweets," Pan Pacific Retail Management (PPRM) Malaysia president Satoshi Machida said at the launch event.
PPRM, the operating company for Jonetz by Don Don Donki, has more than 680 stores throughout Japan as well as in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand and the United States.
On expansion plans in Malaysia. Jonetz by Don Don Donki is targeting the opening of 11 stores by June 2024.
Meanwhile, GSC has also opened its doors on the third floor of the mall enticing cinemagoers with its latest 12-screen cinema with a total of 1,717 seats across six special halls - Onyx Cinema LED with Dolby Atmos, MX4D, GSC Big with Dolby Atmos, PlayPlus family halls and GSC Premiere.
GSC Tropicana Gardens is the only cinema to offer fresh oden in addition to pastries and caramel popcorns.
"We are excited for GSC to be a part of Tropicana Gardens Mall in bringing an enriching cinema experience to audiences with our wide range of cinematic technologies and offerings.
"From the immersive MX4D and Onyx Cinema LED with Dolby Atmos to our proprietary premium large format - GSC BIG, our cinema is designed to bring the best and most incredible blockbuster experiences to movie-goers," said GSC chief marketing officer Shirley Low Kuan Mei.
Additionally, Sports Direct Malaysia has opened its latest elevated superstore at the mall.
The store - the 33rd in Malaysia -boasts a retail footprint of 28,000sq ft that includes both Sports Direct and the new USC lifestyle facia.
"This is a great milestone for us. To be chosen by popular brands signals the level of confidence reputable retailers have in Tropicana Gardens Mall," said Tropicana Corporation group managing director Dion Tan.
"We are buoyed by these latest developments.
"The mall opened its doors in the early stages of the pandemic in March 2020.
"Despite that, our tenancy rate has since doubled from 27% to 56% last month, and is set to achieve 67% by the year end," Tan added.
To spread festive cheer, the mall is encouraging the community to give back to underprivileged communities through the Buggy of Joy initiative from now until Dec 22.
Mall-goers can locate the cart at the concourse area to drop off dry goods (rice, oatmeal, noodles, biscuits, pasta), beverages (coffee, milk powder, tea, baby milk), halal canned food (sardine, baked beans, canned mushroom), cooking essentials (salt, sugar, cooking oil, flour, spices) or healthcare products (mask, sanitiser, cleaning solutions, toothpaste).
Cash donations are also accepted via transfer to Tropicana Foundation (CIMB Bank account number 8003575210).
