Nanyang Siang Pau - Tropicana Corp appoints Dion Tan as group MD

Kuala Lumpur, 2 October 2017 – Tropicana Corp. Bhd. (TROP, 5401, main market, property) has appointed Dion Tan Yong Chien, third son of Tropicana’s founder Tan Sri Danny Tan, as Group Managing Director effective today.

In filing with Bursa Malaysia, the 27 years old Dion Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Information Management for Business from University College London, United Kingdom. He then obtained a Master of Science in Management with Information Systems and Innovation from London School of Economics, United Kingdom.

Dion Tan was with Accenture, a global management and technology-consulting firm, as a strategy consutant with experience in telecommunications, media and property sectors.

Tropicana also announced that current Director and Group CEO Datuk Yau Kok Seng, 58, will retire early due to health reasons.

Separately, Datuk Lim Thean Shiang was appointed as Tropicana’s Independent and Non-Executive Director. Datuk Lim also holds directorships in Daya Materials Bhd (DAYA, 0091, main market, share) and MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd (MSM, 5202, main market, consumer goods).

Currently, eldest brother Datuk Dickson Tan Yong Long is the Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while Dillon Tan Yong Chin is an Executive Director.
